What should merchants know about EMV?
EMV stands for “Europay, Mastercard and Visa.” EMV is a transaction between a chip-enabled credit card and an EMV-enabled payment terminal or ATM. Merchants should be aware of EMV because despite the emergence of multiple new technologies, EMV remains the technological standard for credit card processing in the United States.
EMV chip cards are much more secure than the old magnetic stripe cards we’re used to seeing. They contain a tiny computer chip that communicates with the payments terminal to make sure you’re not committing fraudulent activities.
To process transactions, as of Oct 1, 2015, EMV cards require EMV readers. If you still don’t have an EMV reader, you could be on the hook for certain types of fraudulent transactions.

The FD130 terminal allows you to accept all major credit cards, contactless payments and gift cards. Plus you’ll now be able to accept EMV chip cards presented to you by your customers. With further addition of a pin pad, you can also accept debit pin/signature transactions.
